Mike & Michelle Honig have done it again! For several years running members and guests of the Mustangs By The Bay Car Show have joined together for some good conversation and a few margarita’s the day before the SDMC car show. It is always a lot of fun to get together with people of like interests and this year was no exception. Between SDMC members and out of town visitors over 55 people showed up to partake. This years event was held at Casa Guadalajara Mexican Restaurant on Taylor Street in Old Town San Diego. The pictures say it all. Thanks Mike and Michelle for putting this together.

Orange Glen High School Homecoming (Escondido)
SDMC “Mustang’s On Parade”
September 29, 2006
Photos & Commentary by Warren Kendrick
The San Diego Mustang Club attended Orange Glen High Schools Homecoming event by providing nine Mustang convertibles to drive the sophomore, junior and senior class representatives down the field during their halftime event. Prior to the event members met at Dalton’s Roadhouse Restaurant and then drove down Downtown Escondido’s Grand Street for their last night of “Cruisin’ Grand”. The SDMC provides community service and the use of their cars for social events and parades.
Due to low light and my rather cheap camera, the pictures did not turn out great but it will give you an idea of what the event was like.

Mustangs at the Queen Mary Show X: 2006
September 24, 2006
Photos & Commentary by Warren Kendrick
Mustang’s at the Queen Mary has been presented each year by the Beach City Mustang Club for the past 10 years. This was my first year attending and I must say it was quite an impressive event. I drove up that morning while some others decided to take their time, drive up the day before and enjoy the surroundings. Traffic on the way to the event was fine except for a triathlon that had most of the surface streets to the Mary closed in the early morning; the South 710 exit was also closed due to construction. After a bit of navigating I made it from San Diego to the Queen Mary in about 2 hours.
The parking of the show was extremely organized. 98% of the vehicles were parked in less then 10 minutes. I was in may spot in less them 5 minutes even though I was positioned at the far end of the grass area. It was reported that over 360 Mustangs were entered in the event with an additional 30 to 40 cars that filled non-mustang categories.
I have rarely seen a local club show that had so much stuff to give away and an enormous amount of corporate sponsors. Jon Schultz is President of the BCMC; was the main organizer and played MC for the event. I am sure he couldn’t speak the next day since he talked for about 5 hours straight at one point.
Voting began at 10:30, ballots were turned in at 11:30 but the trophy ceremony did not get off to a good start until 4:15. Luckily the award giving was fast and furious and we found ourselves driving off the grounds at around 5:15 pm. It made for a long day but we couldn’t have asked for a nicer day or a better setting.
If my count was correct, there were eight SDMC members with five cars entered into the competition. I won a trophy taking 2nd place in my class. Several other members received awards but I new to the club cannot remember their names. I did take their pictures however. If you are one of the winners, send me your name, class and what trophy you won and I will list it here.
